Looking for something mindless to create, I turned to a cardboard spool that was holding a roll of ribbon together.

I cut off two semi-equal rings and rubbed decoupage medium on them to help stiffen them. After that I stuck on masking tape to build up the depth on the bottom half and further stabilize them.

Initially, I was going to cover it with paper or maybe washi tape. Instead I decided to tie some baker's twine around it.

The question is: What to do with them now that they're wrapped?

Sometimes laziness is a benefit. I ended up choosing black ear wires that were on my desk. It was either those or brass. I liked black best. Now here's where the laziness comes in. I didn't want to get up and look for jump rings. But hey I have black chain right here. I actually like the black chain.

No I have a cute and practucally free pair of summery earrings.
