I decided to try creating one drawing each day for the month of August. This is the first batch of what I ended up with.

So its been awhile since I've posted. Not really sure why, other than laziness. Its not like I've been lacking in subject matter.

I grew a crystal from a kit I got at Dollar Tree.

Everything that came in the kit.

This is what it looks like right after you mix it all up. Now it needs to sit for a couple of hours or overnight or something like that.

Here it is like 2 weeks later. I sorta forgot about it.

My mom and I bought monogrammed mason jar tumblers for our iced coffee.

As you can see, they were only $2.99 each at Tuesday morning.

I made a quick pair of earrings. It should have taken 2 min. but one of the findings broke before I even got started. I had to track down another pair.

This is where I broke it.

So I had to find new ear wires. I ended it going with copper.

They're really cute. I quite like them. Even after I broke the ear wire they still only took like 5 min to make.

And I've been working on a little art here and there. Nothing special. Just making sure I create as often as possible.

I found this chalkboard sticker at Dollar Tree the other day.

Even though, I wanted it I had no idea what to do with it. My mom suggested I could stick it to one of my many coveted clipboards and use it to make notes and hold loose papers. What an excellent idea! So that's what I did.

Later, I found these chalk markers from the Dollar Tree.  They were just too cute and would be perfect for my new chalkboard. It also came in white but, eh. I already have a white chalk marker and really if I wanted white I'd rather just use chalk.

Now I just have to figure out where to hang it....

There are a ton of home made play dough recopies out there but the best play dough is the one someone else made and gave to you. A friend of mine shot me some homemade play dough to take baby sitting with me. We all enjoyed playing with it and the kids especially seemed to enjoy shouting out things I should make:

a flower

various shapes

numbers

 pizza

 a caterpillar

that turns into a butterfly

a cat (though it kinda looks more like a mouse)

I forgot how much fun playing with play dough can be. It doesn't matter if you can't think of what to make. It doesn't matter if it turns out badly, you just smash it into oblivion and start over. Heck, just smashing and rolling the dough can be cathartic, can be enough to get the creative juices flowing. It's a great and freeing exercise to do either alone or with the kiddos. Fun and forgiving. It doesn't get better than that.
